Arteta tipped to QUIT Arsenal for Man Utd
Mikel Arteta has sensationally been tipped to quit Arsenal to take over at Manchester United, if the opportunity arises.
Former Man Utd star Rio Ferdinand believes that if were Arteta offered the job this summer he would jump at the chance to take over the Red Devils.
Arteta is currently enjoying a second fantastic season in a row, with the Gunners once again challenging to win the Premier League title.
Last season, Arsenal ran out of steam in the run-in and allowed Man City to beat them to the title.
This time, the north London team are fighting it out in a three-way battle with City and Liverpool, and are well-placed to get over the line and win a first title in 20 years.
Man Utd, meanwhile, are enduring another disastrous season under Erik ten Hag and are well off the pace.
The Red Devils face a fight to even qualify for the Champions League as they are down in sixth place with 12 games left.
What did Ferdinand say?
"Mikel Arteta would leave Arsenal to join Man United, 100%,” Ferdinand said.
"No one is saying it’s happening but if Man United in a wild dream said, ‘do you know what, Erik ten Hag, thank you’ or Erik ten Hag has been poached by Bayern Munich, and he goes there, and then Man United say top of the list is Arteta, Arteta is going in and saying to the lads, ‘listen guys, it’s been emotional but I’ve got to move, I’ve got to go.'"
Arteta has been manager of Arsenal since 2019, winning the 2020 FA Cup and two Community Shields. He also spent five years at the club as a player between 2011 and 2016, winning two FA Cups and two Community Shields.
