Kompany takes dig at Klopp after earning touchline ban

Burnley head coach Vincent Kompany has blamed Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp for the touchline ban he received on Saturday.

At Anfield, the former Manchester City captain was slapped with a ban, which means he will not be available for Burnley’s upcoming match against Arsenal. The Belgian has stated that he believes he was given a yellow card because Klopp had already upset the referee, Tim Robinson.

Kompany thinks that the referee was eager to give him a yellow card after the German was handed one.

The card is the third time Kompany has been booked this season, which means he will be banned from the touchline when Burnley play Arsenal next weekend.

Kompany said after the defeat: "I'd say it's a little bit to do with the game. think I got booked because I should have paid attention to the fact that Jurgen Klopp got booked because then all I think the referee did was just went looking for me.

"I opened my arms out, which I have done exactly that in many games. Then all of a sudden the card comes out. Out of nothing. Now I am suspended for the next game. I should have known it was just a way to balance it out and it doesn't make sense, but hey, we have to keep going. No sulking."

The Reds earned three points at home as Dara O'Shea's header levelled the score against Diogo Jota's goal for Liverpool in the match, with Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez finding the net in the second half. Their win secured Liverpool's position at the top of the Premier League table, with Manchester City two points behind and with a game in hand.
