Real Madrid 'close agreement' with top transfer target after Mbappe confirms PSG exit

Real Madrid are closing in on one of their top long-term transfer targets after reaching an agreement over personal terms, with negotiations set to open in the summer with the player’s club.

Los Blancos are gearing up for a busy summer with the impending arrival of Kylian Mbappe, who told Paris Saint-Germain this week that he would leave the club at the end of the season.

Mbappe will likely solve Real’s striker issue despite his preference to play in the left-wing spot occupied by Vinicius Junior, while Endrick will also arrive upon his 18th birthday in July.

The signing on Mbappe on a free transfer means that Real will be able to focus attention on other areas of the pitch and left-back is thought to be amongst the highest priority for Carlo Ancelotti.

The likes of Ferland Mendy and Eduardo Camavinga have been utilised at left-back in recent years under Ancelotti but the Real boss has been keen to sign a world-class specialist and the La Liga giants appear to have edged closer to their top target.

Spanish outlet Relevo have claimed that Real have ‘closed an agreement’ with Alphonso Davies and the club hope that Bayern will sell the 23-year-old this summer when he has one year left on his contract instead of letting him leave on a free the following summer.

Real optimistic of striking deal with Bayern for Davies

Real have raided Bayern for a left-sided defender before, having signed David Alaba from the Bundesliga giants, however they were made to wait until his contract expired before they could bring him to Madrid.

There is optimism that Bayern, who are resigned to Davies not renewing his deal, will see the value in cashing in on a prized talent, like they did when Robert Lewandowski was begrudgingly allowed to join Barcelona in 2022.

A ‘dream’ for Ancelotti is said to be signing Davies and keeping Mendy as a backup left-back, however the club understand that may not economically be possible and they will entertain offers for the Frenchman, having seen interest from Saudi Pro League sides among others in recent times.

Mendy’s contract, like Davies, also expires in 2025 and there have yet to be talks over his future, with Real currently focused on bigger priorities such as closing a deal for Mbappe in the coming weeks.
