Chelsea are planning on signing at least four new players this summer as they look to bolster the squad available to Enzo Maresca.

The Leicester City boss is expected to take over at Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, with an official announcement due soon.

The Italian will replace Mauricio Pochettino in the Chelsea dugout, following the Argentine’s exit by mutual consent, and the Blues are reportedly eager to sign four new players upon Maresca’s arrival.

The west London club have largely focused on signing players under the age of 25 since Clearlake Capital became owners in 2022 and that transfer policy is expected to continue this summer, with Chelsea set to sign Brazilian wonderkid Estevao for an initial €40 million.

However, the Blues are also interested in bolstering their current playing squad and The Sun have reported that Chelsea are targeting four positions as they prepare for Maresca’s arrival.

The report states that Chelsea are likely to pursue a goalkeeper, a centre-back, a left-back and a striker this summer.

Who will Chelsea sign this summer?

With Maresca set to implement a possession-based system, Chelsea want to sign a new goalkeeper to fit this philosophy. Robert Sanchez was ousted by Djordje Petrovic during the 2023-24 campaign and while the Serbian is a very talented shot-stopper, he is not the best with the ball at his feet.

In addition, Chelsea also want to sign a new centre-back following Thiago Silva’s free transfer move to Fluminense.

While Marc Cucurella impressed during the final weeks of the season, a new left-back is a priority and Chelsea’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen remains a prevalent one.

The Nigerian is one of the Blues’ key transfer targets and they could look to tempt Napoli into a player-plus-cash swap deal including wantaway Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku.
