Man Utd confirm EXIT of six players
Manchester United have confirmed the exits of six of their squad members, including Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane.
The club released their retained list on Wednesday but also stated some of the players who would be leaving.
Indeed, Martial is leaving the club after making 317 appearances and nine seasons, in which he netted scored 90 goals and won the Europa League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.
Varane is also departing after 95 appearances, in a tenure that was marred by injury.
Brandon Williams is another significant name poised to leave following the expiry of his contract. Charlie McNeill is set to leave the club after making his debut in 2022.
Marcus Lawrence and Kie Plumley will also exit when their contract is up.
The club stated that they would be talking to veterans Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton over potential new contracts as they submit their retained list to the Premier League.
Man Utd begin fresh talks with Jonny Evans
Evans made the return to Old Trafford last season after concluding his contract with Leicester City, signing one new deal. The move turned out to be a shrewd some for the Red Devils, with Evans featuring in 30 games across the campaign.
News of talks between the Northern Ireland man and the club has been met with a mixed reaction online, but the 36-year-old will no doubt add valuable experience to the dressing ahead of the new season.
He featured in the 2024 FA Cup final against Manchester City and helped his side to 2–1 win, meaning that he had won every major trophy possible with the Red Devils in his two spells there.
