Barcelona Transfer News Today: Luis Diaz WANTED, De Jong FEARS, Vitor Roque LATEST
The latest Barcelona football transfer news updates, with the hottest updates on all the potential new signings and sales at the Camp Nou, including Luis Diaz and Frenkie de Jong.
Barcelona want Luis Diaz
Barcelona are interested in signing Luis Diaz before the end of the month, with the Catalans exploring how they can afford to make an offer for the Liverpool winger.
With hopes fading over being able to sign Nico Williams this summer, Barca’s attentions have seemingly turned to Diaz, having held a long-term interest in the Colombian.
Barca believe Diaz wants to join them but Liverpool are expected to demand more than the €60 million the La Liga side have available to strengthen on the wing.
Diaz has three years remaining on his contract at Anfield and it is thought that Liverpool have already held talks about a renewal, although nothing concrete is in place yet.
Barca fear De Jong could leave on free
Barcelona are still hoping to sell Frenkie de Jong during the transfer window amid fears that the midfielder may leave the club on a free transfer when his contract expires.
De Jong is Barcelona’s highest earner, with an eyewatering salary of around €35m, and has two years remaining on his deal but the 27-year-old’s injury appears to be worse than anticipated, causing doubts over his ability to be sold this summer.
The Dutchman was only expected to be out for up to eight weeks after suffering an ankle injury in April but, four months later, there is still no projected return date for De Jong.
Barca have pushed hard to extend De Jong’s deal on a lower salary but the player has been unresponsive to those attempts and appears content to remain at the club and see out the remainder of his contract.
Yamal’s father ‘better’ after stabbing incident
The father of Lamine Yamal has spoken out after reportedly being attacked and stabbed in Spain last night.
According to Spanish media, Mounir Nasraoui suffered multiple stab wounds, having reportedly had an argument with a group of people earlier in the day.
Hours later, he was approached by the same group in a car park and rushed to hospital after the attack, with his condition now stable after initially having been serious.
Nasraoui posted on Instagram following the incident, saying: “Thank you to everyone. I'm better now, a big hug to you all."
Roque only allowed to leave on permanent transfer
Barcelona will only sanction a permanent exit for Vitor Roque after seeing the wonderkid linked with a move to Porto.
Roque appears to have no future at Barca despite only joining the club for €30m in January and there have been numerous loan offers for the 19-year-old from teams in England and Spain.
The forward’s agent denied that Porto had been in talks with Barca over a deal, with the Portuguese side looking for a replacement for Evanilson, who is set to join Bournemouth for €47m.
Roque is not expected to be registered in Barcelona’s squad this season and the club are looking to make a clean break from the player with a permanent sale only.
