Newcastle could STEAL Conor Gallagher after Atletico Madrid COLLAPSE
Newcastle United are waiting in the wings and considering making a move to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea.
That is according to CaughtOffside, who report that Newcastle are monitoring developments closely.
The Magpies are in the market for a centre midfielder and have also held talks with free agent Adrien Rabiot, who left Juventus last month at the end of his contract.

Gallagher’s transfer to Atletico Madrid spectacularly collapsed last week and, while CaughtOffside reports that the midfielder still hopes to join the Spanish team, it is far from certain that this will actually happen.
After Samu Omorodion’s €40 million move from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea fell through, this has had a knock-on effect on Gallagher’s deal.
Gallagher was on the verge of signing for Atletico after passing a medical in Madrid - with transfer fee and contract terms agreed - but that deal then fell through.
Chelsea requested for Gallagher to return to London and he is now back in training with the Blues.

Joao Felix’s transfer to Chelsea - which was seen as an alternative to the original Omorodion deal in order to rescue the Gallagher deal - has also stalled.
Chelsea have now begun offering Gallagher around to other Premier League clubs in an attempt to sell him.
The Blues have put Gallagher up for sale for a few important financial reasons.
First of all, following two years of record spending, Chelsea need to sell players in order to balance the books.
Secondly, Gallagher is one of the few players with heavy interest who can guarantee a big profit in this regard.
Thirdly, Gallagher’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in 2025 and Chelsea cannot afford to lose him on a free transfer.
Gallagher at Chelsea
The 24-year-old has been at Chelsea since he was a youth player from 2008.
After a series of loan moves he established himself as a regular in the first team, and in total he has made 95 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals.
He was one of the few players to come out of the 2023-24 season with any credit as Chelsea endured another miserable campaign.
Gallagher has also won 13 caps for the England national team and he is in the squad for Euro 2024 this summer.
