It's reported that Fernandes is set to commit his future to the Red Devils by signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until at least June 2027, with an option to extend for an additional year.

The new contract is expected to promote Fernandes into the wage bracket of the club's top earners.

Previously, Fernandes was on a contract that paid him around £240,000 per week, the fourth-highest at the club.

But this new deal will see him add to his two years remaining and make him one of the biggest earners.

Casemiro is the highest at £350,00 a week and Marcus Rashford is on close to that. Jadon Sancho earns around £300,00 per week.

This new contract ends speculation that the Portuguese midfielder might leave Old Trafford. The Daily Mail reports that Fernandes' agent, Miguel Pinho, had met with representatives from Bayern Munich over the summer.

The club's new manager, Vincent Kompany, was reportedly eager to make a marquee signing following a disappointing season for the German club.

Despite Man Utd's struggles in the 2023-24 Premier League season, where they finished in eighth place, Fernandes has regularly delivered and is widely considered the club's best signing since Sir Alex Ferguson departed.

He has made 230 appearances, scored 79 goals, and provided 66 assists during his tenure with the Premier League giants. Now it could be that he sees out his career at Old Trafford.
