Newcastle unlikely to make ANY signings as Guehi transfer collapses

Newcastle’s transfer window looks to be ending in disarray, with reports that their long pursuit of Marc Guehi is set to collapse after failing to agree a deal with Crystal Palace.
Eddie Howe’s side had been hoping for a strong summer after narrowly missing out on European football last season but it has so far proven a frustrating window for the club.
Outside of Lewis Hall’s loan being turned into a permanent deal, Newcastle have only been able to make depth additions to their squad in Lloyd Kelly, William Osula and backup keepers John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos.

The Magpies had been hoping to make Guehi their marquee signing of the summer, being locked in talks with Palace for the past month and seeing a number of offers rejected.
And multiple reports have now claimed that the latest offer of around £65m (€77.3m) plus add-ons has not convinced Palace to sell and Newcastle are now set to walk away from negotiations.
A deal is not thought to be completely dead, with Newcastle’s offer still remaining on the table, however optimism is fading that a deal for Guehi will be struck before Friday’s deadline.

Newcastle set to end window without marquee signing
Newcastle could end the window without making another signing, with The Telegraph reporting that the club feel that it would be a better decision to save funds for January and beyond instead of bringing in players ‘for the sake of it’.
FootballTransfers had confirmed Newcastle’s interest in Mohamed Simakan as a potential alternative to Guehi but initial talks are now also set to amount to nothing.
The Magpies had also hoped to sign a right winger this summer but they have so far been unable to sell Miguel Almiron, with late interest from Fulham unlikely to result in a deal.
While a deal for Guehi may still be revived on deadline day, the prospect is described as ‘very unlikely, particularly with Palace defender Chadi Riad suffering a suspected MCL injury this week.
