De Jong continues to snub Barcelona's contract offer
Frenkie de Jong has still not responded to the club's renewal offer.
The midfielder has been absent for nearly five months following an injury. Now he is nearing his return to the pitch, Revelo journalist Alex Pintanel has reported that he decided against surgery and is expected to start training with the group next week.
But perhaps most pertinent is his contract at Barcelona. The same publication says that he still has not responded to the club's proposal. De Jong could become one of the highest-paid players at the club this season, but he has not agreed to rebuffed the offer from Barcelona.

De Jong's return to action is "imminent" though "specialists warning of a risk of reinjury due to the weakened state of the affected area."
Fellow Barca midfielder Marc Bernal is out injured and there was no new midfield signings, so the club are reliant on him.

Was De Jong transfer listed?
It comes after the story from Spain that Barcelona had transfer listed the former Ajax man.
AS reported that the Netherlands international midfielder was“on pole” to be sold by the Catalan club during the summer.
“After five seasons as a Barcelona player, his very high salary is not the only thing that is attributed to the Dutchman,” the Madrid-based source notes.
“His sporting performance has not been what was expected and he has not become the spiritual leader of Barca that was expected when Josep Maria Bartomeu signed him with great fanfare in 2019.
“The departure of Sergio Busquets has not pushed him to elevate his level.
“And, if that were not enough, he has had the misfortune of suffering three injuries to his right ankle. The last one, at the Bernabeu.”
