The defender said that now the club are "a serious team", with the Italian head coach's tactics and training methods changing their fortunes around.

He said to the club's official website: "It is because of the ideas of the coach and the tactics. In training, we all train on the same system and all on the same tactics, so every player knows what they have to do in their position. That is why it is easy for everyone even if we have a lot of changes. Everyone knows what they have to do."

"Sometimes when you play against a lower league team you can become a little bit distracted, but the coach said that we have to stay serious and show everyone that Chelsea are a serious team that wants to win every game."

The Blues secured progress to the next round after they beat Barrow 5-0 on Tuesday night. In the Premier League, they sit in fifth place having won three of their five opening matches.

Disasi joined the Blues from AS Monaco for €45 million last summer, going on to make 44 appearances in all competitions during his debut season at the club.

Disasi "up for sale"

Last month, The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, reported that Disasi was not in Maresca’s long-term plans and there was interest from Newcastle United, who failed in their pursuit of Marc Guehi.

The Magpies did not manage to bring in any central defender in what was a shambolic summer for them. For Disasi, he has been playing at right-back and looking far better at Stamford Bridge.

Against Barrow, Chelsea earned a 5-0 win thanks to goals from Pedro Neto and a Christopher Nkunku hat-trick.

Defender Paul Farman conceded an own goal to give Chelsea their second goal of the five. It's early stages for the Blues but, despite the manic transfer activity in the summer, they appear to be making headway.
