NINE players who have scored MORE goals than Man Utd this season

Manchester United have endured a disastrous start to the 2024-25 season, leaving manager Erik ten Hag on the brink of the sack.

United are languishing down in 14th position in the Premier League, having won just two of their seven Premier League matches. In fact they have only won two of their 10 games in all competitions.

One of the biggest reasons for their dismal start has been their misfiring attack. United have scored just five goals in their seven Premier League games, which is the second worst in the league.

Incredibly, there are nine players in Europe’s top five leagues that have scored more goals on their own than Man Utd have as a whole team this season.

Erling Haaland of Manchester City and Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona have already hit double the number of goals that Man Utd have managed. Haaland has 10 Premier League goals, while Lewandowski also has 10 in La Liga.

In Serie A, Mateo Retegui and Marcus Thuram both have seven goals each for Atalanta and Inter Milan, respectively.

Also in the Premier League, Man Utd have been outscored by Brentford’s Brian Mbeumo and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer as they have both scored six goals each.

Ayoze Perez, of all players, has six goals already in La Liga for Villarreal.

In the German Bundesliga, Omar Marmoush has found the net eight times for Eintracht Frankfurt.

And in Ligue 1, Man Utd’s goal tally has been surpassed by PSG wide attacker Brandley Barcola, who has six goals so far.

Players with more goals than Man Utd

This is very embarrassing for Ten Hag and Man Utd, who have spent a fortune on their attack in recent years.

Rasmus Hojlund was signed for €85 million from Atalanta last year and has yet to find the net this season, while €42m summer signing Joshua Zirkzee has just one goal. Antony cost €100m in 2022 and has no goals.

No Man Utd player has scored more than one Premier League goal this season, with the goals coming from Matthijs de Ligt, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Zirkzee.

If Ten Hag manages to avoid the sack over the international break, then a big improvement is needed in terms of goalscoring.
