Newcastle have last laugh with latest Guehi update
Newcastle supporters have enjoyed the latest update concerning Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
The Magpies made four offers for the England international over the summer window but failed to secure a move. Guehi's contract is up in June 2025 and there now concerns at Palace that he will not sign a fresh deal.
It means that he will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement in January and leave for free, with Newcastle and Liverpool linked to the 24-year-old.
A report in the Daily Mail today stated: "Crystal Palace fear that they are fighting a losing battle in an attempt to persuade long-term #NUFC target Marc Guehi to sign a new deal at Selhurst Park."
Guehi was among England's best players during Euro 2024. His showings at the tournament were enough to convince Eddie Howe that he was the right man for the job.
But Palace held firm in their valuation and he remained in South London. It was frustrating for Newcastle. Outside of Lewis Hall’s loan being turned into a permanent deal, Newcastle only added additions to their squad in Lloyd Kelly, William Osula and backup keepers John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos.
The latest news is being enjoyed by Newcastle fans, who felt that Palace were being very unreasonable throughout the summer by turning down record bids from the Tyneside outfit.

Is it wrong to be disappointed if we pay anymore than 40m after what they did this summer on top of his contract coming to an end and their horrendous form so far?

Offer 40m in Jan and get the deal done. Parish fucked up the chance to get a premium for him 🤣

Watch him go to Liverpool, I can see it now, rather than Parish looking foolish for knocking us back in the summer for 70 million he'd rather take 35-40 million off Liverpool or he'll end up there on a free next summer!!!
