'It's time to go' - Carragher makes huge Nunez prediction

Jamie Carragher has said that Liverpool should move on from Darwin Nunez next year.

The Uruguayan came into harsh criticism online after an abysmal display against Newcastle on Monday, where he gave away passes and missed multiple clear-cut opportunities.

Nunez joined the Reds in a deal worth a club-record €85 million from Benfica in the summer of 2022, despite his constant links to Manchester United at the back.

At Anfield has had a mixed spell at Liverpool, being able to provide an extra dynamic on the pitch when he does play, but his inability to score this season - and at some points last season - means that not all fans are happy with his transfer.

This has been his worst season to date. The 25-year-old only has three goals so far, with Mohamed Salah being the side's biggest threat in front of goal.

Nunez has been playing as a backup to Diogo Jota, but the Portugal international suffered an injury in October, so the former Benfica man has taken his place.

Carragher, watching the Newcastle and Liverpool game live on The Overlap, said that he could see Nunez moving on next year, with someone else taking his place.

“I’m not sure he’s here next year,” he admitted. “I think he’ll probably move on. He’s more like a cult hero because he’s a bit mad and he likes to run around, but he’s better than [Divock] Origi.”
