The Blues are actively searching the market for a centre-back following recent injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, although the club are insistent they won’t be forced into a panic buy.

That is according to The Telegraph, who report that six players could leave Stamford Bridge this month as Enzo Maresca looks to bring in a new defender.

Aaron Anselmino has returned from his loan spell at Boca Juniors and Josh Acheampong starred on his first Premier League start on Saturday, but Chelsea are still looking to bring a new central defender to the club before the January window ends.

The west London giants are eyeing a possible deal to re-sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, while they are also open to recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Selhurst Park.

However, Guehi “would be a difficult and expensive option”, as per The Telegraph, and Chalobah may turn down the chance to return to Stamford Bridge after being forced out in August.

Despite this, Chelsea are determined to fund a move for a new centre-back by offloading a number of unwanted stars this month.

Chelsea to fund Guehi deal with six sales

The Telegraph have revealed that Axel Disasi, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Christopher Nkunku could all leave Chelsea before the January transfer window ends.

All six players have struggled for significant game time so far this season, with Chilwell amassing just 45 minutes of action in all competitions and only Nkunku racking up more than five Premier League appearances.

As a result, Chelsea are open to sales for the right fee, while they could agree to loan Chilwell out for the remainder of the campaign before aiming to offload the ex-England star on a permanent deal this summer.
