Karim Konate is one of the most exciting prospects in Austria right now.
The Ivory Coast attacker, at the time of writing, has eight goals and two assists in 13 matches for RB Salzburg. He is one goal away from tripling his total for the campaign prior.
But who is Konate and just how good really is he?

Konate is a centre-forward who typically plays on the left-hand side of an attacking pair.

How good is Konate?
Being sourced by Red Bull scouts speaks for itself - Konate has all the makings of a future superstar. He is predominately a striker, but sometimes drifts to the left flank, even though he is right-footed. Konate's ability to be effective in the half-space and inside the box makes him a formidable player and dangerous in attacks in the 4-3-1-2 configuration Salzburg often use.
Konate shows great pace and is adept at converting headers- he is a morph of a traditional No.9 and someone who plays an auxiliary attacker. And it’s this sort of versatility that will no doubt attract some of the most elite clubs playing today.
Konate started this career at what’s been dubbed ‘La Masia of Africa’ - ASEC Mimosas. He earned a place in the starting XI there, playing in key games such as the CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup, the latter of which he netted seven goals in eight matches. His remarkable talent soon caught the eye of Salzburg, and he joined their youth set-up, splitting time between there and FC Liefering in the Austrian second league.
The youngster scored five goals in six UEFA Youth League games and for Liefering he scored ten goals in thirteen games.
Now playing for the Salzburg first-team, he has enjoyed his breakout season, already among the top scorers in the Austrian Bundesliga division with a catalogue of goals.
