Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham target Weghorst ready to push through Premier League move
Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham are all on the hunt for a new striker in January and one player that all three clubs are interested in signing may be about to appear on the market.
Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst has been scoring goals for fun in the Bundesliga for a number of years now and has since attracted the interest of many Premier League clubs.
Both London clubs have been linked with the Dutch striker, along with West Ham and with no less than 69 goals and 22 assists in 136 games for the Bundesliga side, Weghorst could prove to be a very useful signing indeed.
Further good news could now come in the form of a new development with the player, which suggests that Weghorst is now ready to push through a move to England and test himself at a higher level.
What has changed?
According to German sports magazine Kicker, Weghorst has grown tired with the lack of transfer activity surrounding his career and as such he has taken it upon himself to change agents ahead of the January window.
The target man had been with the agency Stars & Friends for years and used them to get his move to the Bundesliga, but apparently made the move to Sports360 - the same consultancy that looks after Timo Werner, Tonis Kroos and Dayot Upamecano.
And when we look at Weghorst’s situation at Wolfsburg it’s perhaps easy to see why the striker may now be angling for a move.
Does this mean he could move?
While Weghorst was once the go-to man in Wolfsburg’s attack, that has since changed ever so slightly with the emergence of young striker Lukas Nmecha. The former Manchester City talent has hit the ground running in Germany and now threatens to wrestle Weghorst’s role in the team away from him.
With a contract until 2023 and the player turning 30 in August, Weghorst may understandable feel that if he ever is to make the move to the Premier League it will have to be in January or the following summer window.
