Everton battling Parma for Bayern Munich striker
Everton and Parma are battling out to sign Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee on loan.
The 19-year-old is back on the market after missing out on a move to Eintracht Frankfurt earlier in the January transfer window.
Frankfurt pulled out of a deal after learning that a three-match suspension Zirkzee had picked up after being sent off for Bayern’s second team would apply to Bundesliga games.
And, according to Sky Deutschland, that has left Everton and Parma in the race for the talented teenager, who has four first-team goals to his name in 16 appearances.
Does a loan deal for Bayern’s Joshua Zirkzee make sense for Everton?
Signed from Feyenoord’s academy in 2017, the Dutchman made his senior debut against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League in December 2019.
His playing time has been somewhat limited, though, leaving Bayern open to the prospect of a loan deal with an obligation to buy for around €10m.
According to reports, both Parma and Everton are happy with that arrangement, and are pushing to seal a deal before January’s transfer deadline.
Zirkzee is also keen to move on this month in search of more regular football.
