Arsenal loanee Guendouzi names Spurs star as one of Premier League’s best
Matteo Guendouzi has risked the ire of some Arsenal fans by naming Tottenham striker Heung-min Son as one of his favourite players in the Premier League.
Guendouzi arrived at Arsenal in the summer of 2018 and although he would go on to make plenty of appearances under Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta, he would eventually be allowed to leave the club on loan.
Discipline and attitude issues were believed to have been key factors in his exit in the summer, as he was shipped out to Hertha Berlin for the duration of the 2020/21 campaign.
There has been talk of him being given another chance to impress when he returns to Arsenal, but his latest comments won’t have helped his cause.
When asked whom he believed was the top player in the Premier League at the moment, he told Oh My Goal US:
“Kevin de Bruyne. He’s someone who is everywhere, with his passing quality, his vision of the game.
“For me he’s one of the best midfielders in the world.
“I’d also say Son at Tottenham. He’s a player who does a lot of good for his team.”
Guendouzi previously revealed to Telefoot why he opted to agree to the move to the Bundesliga, saying it was important for him to regain his confidence after being ostracised from the Arsenal team towards the end of last season.
“I needed to have fun on the pitch, to regain confidence and that’s what Hertha offers me. It really is a choice I made.
“In the space of two seasons I have played more than 80 games with Arsenal. When you play less, you start to think and it hurts.”
