Man Utd target Andre Silva jokes he’ll cost the Red Devils over £100m
Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva has commented on the speculation linking him with a summer move to Manchester United, labelling the stories as just rumours.
The Portugal international has been in outstanding form for the Bundesliga outfit this season, scoring 19 times in the league and 20 in all competitions, helping Frankfurt to their current place in the Champions League qualification positions.
HIs recent form has naturally catalysed speculation about a potential transfer away from the club, with Man Utd credited with an interest recently.
Silva was recently asked about the speculation, but brushed off any notion of a move away from Frankfurt for now.
“I’ve heard rumours, but that is it,” he told O Jogo.
“Rumours are rumours.
“It’s something that gives me more motivation to work, it’s a sign that what I have accomplished has borne fruit and the path has been good.”
When asked by the Portuguese outlet to give a valuation of himself, Silva joked that he would cost potential suitors over 100 million.
“Around 105 million?” he responded.
“[laughs] I’m kidding. I think I heard 30 and something somewhere. When we sell our merchandise, we always increase the value a little bit [laughs].
“Things are as they are and, whatever happens around us, the most important thing is to look at me and what I can do.”
Will Man Utd sign Andre Silva?
From chances created alone, the statistics would suggest that, if he were to make the move to Man Utd this summer, he would benefit from the role played by compatriot Bruno Fernandes, who has created more chances than anyone in the Premier League this season bar Kevin De Bruyne.
It remains to be seen whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer views Silva as the centre-forward to take the club forward, as the next signing in that position will likely be a key one to make up his front four quartet.
The likes of Harry Kane and Erling Haaland have been mentioned as transfer targets for Man Utd, and if it is true that the Red Devils will prioritise the acquisition of one of that pair, then we probably won’t see Silva don the red of the club at Old Trafford anytime soon.
