Is Liverpool target Neuhaus worth €40 million?
Liverpool are just a few weeks away from the new Premier League season and still haven’t signed a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.
The Netherlands international departed the Anfield club at the end of last seasons after taking up an offer from Paris Saint-Germain and while Liverpool have bolstered their defensive options with the signing of RB Leipzig defender Ibra Konate, no new midfielders have arrived at the club this summer.
One reason for the lack of investment in the middle of the park could be down to one transfer target proving to be a little more costly than Liverpool may have been hoping for.
According to Sport1, Borussia Monchengladbach are intent on making sure Liverpool transfer target and Foals midfielder Florian Neuhaus doesn’t leave the club for anything less than €40 million. And the English club are apparently unwilling to pay that.
So is €40m a fair price for the German international or are Liverpool right to gawk at the inflated value of Neuhaus this summer?
How much is Neuhaus worth?
After breaking through during a loan spell at Fortuna Dusseldorf in the 2.Bundesliga in the 2017/18 season, Neuhaus has since established himself as a quality box-to-box midfielder at Gladbach and one of the finest in his position in the German top flight.
Over the course of the last three seasons, Neuhaus has bagged 16 goals and 20 assists for Gladbach but, perhaps most importantly, developed into a player that can either sit deep and control possession or be more adventurous in the final third.
As such, Neuhaus has been linked with moves to a number of big clubs, including both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. And as a result of his consistent performances for Gladbach, Neuhaus was included in the German national team for Euro 2020.
According to our stats, that means Neuhaus’ value currently stands at €39.1 million and as such a bid of around €40m from Liverpool would be a fair price in the current market.
