January's Most Wanted: Amadou Haidara to sign for Man Utd?
The January transfer window is here and with it all sorts of rumours about European football’s most exciting talents.
One of the biggest transfer stories of the month thus far revolves around RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara and the prospect of the Mali international making the move to England to be reunited by one of his former managers.
So what is Haidara’s situation like in the Bundesliga right now and could he leave RB Leipzig in the coming weeks?
What is Amadou Haidara’s transfer status?
Although the player has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, Haidara is an important first team player at RB Leipzig and would likely only be sold if an offer came in that was too good to turn down.
According to reports in Germany, Haidara has a release clause that stands at around £33 million (€40 million), which would certainly mean the midfielder is available at a certain price.
When does Amadou Haidara’s contract expire?
Haidara’s current contract with RB Leipzig is set to expire on 30 June, 2025.
What clubs are interested in Amadou Haidara?
Haidara was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle last year, but all rumours of a move to the Premier League have now been dominated by the apparent interest from Manchester United.
The box-to-box talent has an extensive history with new Man Utd manager Ralf Rangnick and as such many believe the new Old Trafford boss may turn to Haidara to solve many of his midfield problems.
Could Amadou Haidara leave in January?
While RB Leipzig are no strangers to selling key players to the Premier League, the German outfit have always made sure to get top value for any potential sale. And in the case of Haidara that would certainly apply too.
With his release clause set at around €40m, Man Utd would have to trigger the deal with a fee of that magnitude if they stood any hope of enticing RB Leipzig into negotiations. But once they did, they could certainly get their man.
Could Amadou Haidara leave in the summer?
If Haidara doesn’t move to Man Utd in January, a summer deal could certainly come about if the Old Trafford side trigger his release clause then.
Similarly, Haidara may make serious moves to push through a transfer away from the Saxony club if RB Leipzig can’t secure a top four finish and Champions League football for next season. Which certainly remains a distinct possibility, following a poor start to the season.

Haidara was born on 31 January, 1998 which makes him 23 years of age.
