Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all desperate to make a move for Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa in the summer transfer window.

According to Sport-Bild reporter Christian Falk, the Premier League trio have all been chasing the young Croatia international for some time now and could act at the end of the season.

But who is the 24-year-old talent that has some of England’s biggest clubs caught up in a frenzy and where could he end up next season?

Who is Borna Sosa?

Sosa is a young left-back that has been going from strength to strength with Stuttgart since joining the Bundesliga side from Dinamo Zagreb in 2018.

During his time at Stuttgart, Sosa quickly developed into a wing-back with an exceptional cross on him. And more often than not that has led to him piling up the assists each season.

To date, Sosa has bagged no less than 19 assists and three goals in just 73 games for Stuttgart. Which is a remarkable return for any full-back.

Indeed, Sosa’s delivery with his left foot is so good that he’s often been compared to former Manchester United and Real Madrid winger David Beckham. And it is a comparison that he seems to enjoy.

“Borna himself said that his role model was David Beckham,” said Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat to BILD last year.

“And I think it’s the same quality too. Borna crosses from every corner, sometimes chipped, sometimes sharp, sometimes flat, sometimes in the back, sometimes on the first post, sometimes on the second. His left foot is an absolute weapon."

Could he leave Stuttgart in the summer?

Although Sosa and Stuttgart as a whole haven’t enjoyed the best of seasons, the full-back is still valued at €14 million and would reportedly cost considerably more than that to sign in the summer.

The player’s agent, Franjo Vranjkovic, told local media last summer that Stuttgart were holding out for around €20m for the defender, which shouldn’t pose a huge stumbling block to the interested Premier League sides.

However, it remains to be seen which clubs are genuinely interested. It would certainly make sense to see Tottenham turn to the Croatia international as an upgrade to their left-back options and Chelsea could replace Marcos Alonso with the Bundesliga star, but Arsenal are hardly short of solid left-backs at the moment.

As such, it seems far more like that Chelsea or Spurs would be leading the race to sign Sosa at the end of the season and he may not cost a huge amount to sign either.
