Sule signing better than Haaland for Dortmund, claims Liverpool legend
Former Bayern Munich and Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes that Borussia Dortmund’s new signing Nilas Sule is the club’s best bit of business in the last 10 years and an even better capture than Erling Haaland.
On Monday the Bundesliga giants confirmed reports that Sule would make the move to the Westfalenstadion in the summer, when his current deal at Bayern is set to expire.
Despite being heavily linked with a move to Barcelona and Chelsea, the Germany international opted for a move to Dortmund instead and will reportedly earn around €10 million per year.
Such news delighted fans of the club, who have had to accept that their club won’t be challenging for this season’s league title following a bitter 5-2 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.
'It's their best transfer ever'
And Hamman can understand their joyous mood. Despite signing players like Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham and Haaland in recent years, the former Germany international believes Sule could be the club’s best signing in sometime.
"Dortmund has always brought in players for little money like Lewandowski, Dembele, Sancho or Haaland, who left for 10 or 15 times as much. But with them you never know what will happen,” said Hamman in an interview with Sky Deutschland.
He added: "For Dortmund's self-esteem and perception in the league, it's their best transfer. When you know you have a player like that in the team, it makes you a bit bigger.
"He will make Dortmund better just by being in the dressing room and standing in the tunnel, and you see the cabinet standing in front of you, and you know you have Süle in the team. That makes all the players already three, four per cent better."
