Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs given boost in Thuram pursuit
Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram could be sold to a Premier League side this summer.
Thuram has made a name for himself in the Bundesliga, since making the move from Guingamp in 2019, with 28 goals and 14 assists in 81 games for Gladbach in all competitions.
With the player's contract expiring in the summer of 2023, the German giants are prepared to accept a cut-price offer for the player in 2022.
According to the Athletic, he could be available for around €18 million.
Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl revealed in October that the club rejected an offer from Inter for Thuram. BILD reported at the time that the offer was around €39m.
According to Eberl, such an offer was rejected because the German club and the player himself had no interest in accepting it.
“It’s true that Inter showed great interest and there was a very specific offer,” Eberl has told Bild.
“But first of all, Marcus didn’t want to leave. Second, we looked at the offer but didn’t want to let him go."
As we approach the summer transfer window in 2022, it is Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham who are believed to be leading the race for Thuram's signature, even if his performances have fallen off a cliff this season, with just three goals scored.
Injuries have also impacted the player's development this season, as he has been restricted to just nine Bundesliga starts.
With regards to Chelsea, they will only be able to open up negotiations after a takeover is completed.
Arsenal could look to sell him to replace Nicolas Pepe, while Antonio Conte believes the player would fit nicely into his 3-4-3 system.
What is Thuram's transfer value?
The Atheltic reports that he could be signed for as little as €18m.
