Sadio Mane has completed his move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich in a deal that will cost the reigning German champions up to €41 million.

Mane has signed a three-year deal with the Bundesliga champions.

The Senegalese forward was the subject of many bids from Bayern, but they kept getting rejected by Liverpool, however, the Reds have now finally agreed a fee and Mane will move to Germany.

Bayern had been in the market for an attacking player to bolster their forward line following a disappointing 2021/22 campaign where they only won the Bundesliga title.

Top scorer Robert Lewandowski also announced his desire to depart the club after eight years at the Allianz Arena, while Serge Gnabry may not stick around for long either after refusing a contract extension.

That almost made the signing of Mane a priority, as Bayern were eager to add a world-class player to their ranks, and the Senegalese is exactly who they were looking for.

Bayern initially had two bids rejected for the player – the second of which was described as “laughable”, as Liverpool wanted their valuation for Mane to be met, despite his contract running out next year.

The second bid came up to a total amount of €35m, with €27.5m offered upfront and the rest in bonus payments. However, their price has been pushed up.

Mane's Liverpool legacy

Mane joined Liverpool in the summer of 2016 and was seen as the first piece of the puzzle in Jurgen Klopp’s team, as they went on to form one of England’s finest sides.

In his time at Anfield, Mane won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Club World Cup and European Super Cup.

In that period, the Senegalese played 269 matches for the club and scored 120 goals – forming fine partnerships with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.

Liverpool are already planning for the future without him, having completed the signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica for a club-record fee, should add-ons be paid.
