Bellingham and Sancho eclipsed as Bayern Munich make Tel the most expensive U17 ever
Bayern Munich are set to sign 17-year-old wonderkid Mathys Tel from Ligue 1 side Rennes.
Tel completed his medical earlier today, according to SPORT1, and will now join up with his new teammates in the United States.
The young striker will sign a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions.
Bayern had multiple offers rejected but finally agreed on an initial fee of €20 million, with €8.5m in add-ons.
Rennes also have a sell-on clause which means they will make a percentage of whatever transfer fee he is sold for in the future.
Who is Mathys Tel?
Mathys Tel made his Rennes debut last season, going on to make 10 appearances in the 2021-22 campaign.
In doing so, he broke Eduardo Camavinga's record of the youngest ever player to represent the club.
Mathys Tel to #Bayern is now done. Base fee is €20m, which will make the 17-year-old striker the fifth most expensive U17 signing on the planet. Including add-ons, Tel is the most expensive U17 player on the planet. Big deal 🤝💸 @TMuk_news pic.twitter.com/VW1sPfpShY

Tel had two years left on his contract with the Ligue 1 side, but has understandably decided to continue his development with Bayern Munich.
Tel becomes the most expensive U17 ever
England internationals Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho are among the five most expensive under-17 players of all time, according to Transfermarkt.
While Bellingham is currently excelling at Bayern's rivals Borussia Dortmund, Sancho's exploits in the Bundesliga earned him a £72m move to Manchester United last summer.
Mathys Tel has now overtaken both, as well former Milan star Alexandre Pato, in topping the list.
He could do a lot worse than to take after that trio of high-profile players.
