Harry Kane is set to complete a transfer from Tottenham to Bayern Munich on Friday, with the England captain poised to hook up with the Bundesliga champions before they begin their 2023/24 campaign against RB Leipzig.

According to Sky Sports Deutschland, Kane will undergo a medical in Munich on Friday after Bayern were successful in having Spurs accept a deal worth €110 million (£95m). The striker has already given the green light for the transfer.

The 30-year-old, who has scored 213 goals in the Premier League, will sign a four-year deal with FCB, where he will finally given the Allianz Arena side a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who departed for Barcelona last summer.

However, in a dramatic twist, Tottenham blocked Kane's permission to fly, according to the German source.

"Harry Kane is now on his way to the airport in London, as he already had the green light for his flight to Munich. FC Bayern is waiting for him," Florian Plettenberg tweeted.

"But now Tottenham currently hindering the move and have revoked Kane's permission to fly. Kane is waiting right now every second in the car for permission to fly to Munich for a medical check."

Kane eyes quick Bayern debut

Kane wants to make his Bayern debut in the DFL Supercup on Saturday against Leipzig, Plettenberg earlier reported.

“Now it’s almost a DONE DEAL! Kane will arrive in Munich on Friday as he has approved the move – as revealed by last night,” the Sky Sports reporter tweeted.

Kane had faced a major crossroads in his career. With a year left on his Tottenham contract, he might have remained at the London club and played out the remainder of his career there, but instead he has opted for a move to Germany, where he will expect to win his first major trophies.

The striker began seriously pushing for a move away from Tottenham in 2021 when he admitted that he was frustrated with his lack of silverware and limited opportunities to play in big matches. At that point, Manchester City were the club that appeared favourites to buy him.

Manchester United have persistently been linked with a move for the England hotshot, but their lack of financial muscle has seen them move this summer instead for Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta.

Bayern have profited and are set to sign Kane, with the opportunity to sell to a club that is not a Premier League rival limiting the damage for Tottenham, who will now need to reinvest some of his record transfer fee back into Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
