Chelsea and Bayern Munich are keeping a close eye on Aaron Ramsdale's situation at Arsenal after the England international was dropped for their win against Everton on Sunday.

David Raya was given the nod in between the sticks by Mikel Arteta, with Ramsdale forced to watch the Gunners’ 1-0 victory from the bench.

Raya, 26, arrived at Arsenal on loan from Brentford this summer and FootballTransfers understand that the Spaniard was signed as a replacement for Ramsdale, rather than as a competitor.

Ramsdale may well return to the starting XI for Arsenal’s Champions League fixture against PSV Eindhoven in midweek, but Arteta’s decision to bench the former Sheffield United ‘keeper has alerted both Chelsea and Bayern, according to the Daily Mail.

Sami Mokbel has reported that despite signing Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic this summer, Chelsea remain ‘open’ to purchasing another goalkeeper, while Bayern are hoping to sign a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer.

The German is currently sidelined through injury, with back-up shot-stopper Sven Ulreich, 35, starting the opening four Bundesliga games of the new campaign.

As a result, both clubs are monitoring Ramsdale and are ready to pounce if his omission from the starting XI becomes a regular one.

’Arteta has humiliated Ramsdale’ says Piers Morgan

Celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan is not happy with Arteta's decision to favour Raya, claiming that Ramsdale has been “humiliated” by the Gunners boss.

“I don’t understand what Ramsdale has done to deserve being dropped? Havertz, yes.. but Ramsdale’s been consistently superb for us. Why humiliate him?” Morgan complained via X, formerly known as Twitter.

When it was put to him that Arteta might be rotating, Morgan argued: “I don’t believe in having 2 top ‘keepers with neither knowing who’s No.1. Nothing against Raya, who is very good, but don’t like the way Ramsdale’s being treated.”
