AC Milan are targeting a January move for Borussia Dortmund youngster Giovanni Reyna as they look to bolster their attacking options, according to reports.

Reyna, still only 20, has four years of Bundesliga experience under his belt, but has struggled with injury problems since his breakout as a teenager.

In total, he has missed 62 games through injury since the start of the 2021-22 campaign, through a variety of different injury problems.

Last season, Reyna played 22 times in the Bundesliga, but only four of those appearances were as a starter.

He did, however, score seven goals in the 2022-23 German top flight season, as well as providing two assists, in just 609 minutes of action.

That form has reportedly convinced Milan boss Stefano Pioli to give the green light for the San Siro side to push for Reyna.

Fichajes have reported that the Rossoneri are already beginning to think about January additions, with Reyna currently among several names being sounded out as possible transfer options.

Milan signed his compatriot Christian Pulisic this summer, with the USMNT star joining from Chelsea for €20 million. He was one of 12 summer signings made by Milan, with the board backing Pioli with over €110m investment into the squad.

They are currently second in Serie A, three points behind rivals Inter after they lost 5-1 to the Nerrazurri last weekend.

Reyna’s World Cup drama

Reyna was at the centre of much controversy during the USA’s 2022 World Cup campaign after his family provided damaging information about manager Berhalter to U.S. Soccer in retaliation to Reyna being overlooked during the tournament.

Reyna has not been selected by the national team since the World Cup and Berhalter is now back in charge, after initially leaving, following an investigation that cleared him to return to the job.

The Dortmund star is yet to make his first appearances of the new season after recovering from yet another injury. He has appeared on the substitutes bench during the last two games.
