Real Madrid have added Bayer Leverkusen trio Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Victor Boniface to their transfer shortlist as they prepare to raid the Bundesliga club.

After the success of Jude Bellingham’s €103 million move from Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid appear keen on re-entering the market for some of the German top flight’s biggest talents and have sounded out Bayer 04 as the club to go shopping.

Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has also been linked with the Real Madrid managerial job in 2024, when Carlo Ancelotti is set to depart to become the head coach of the Brazil national team.

Recent reports have suggested that it will cost at least €15m for Los Blancos to pry Alonso away from Leverkusen due to a release clause included in his current contract. However, he is the top candidate to take over the reins next year.

While Alonso is being eyed up for the Santiago Bernabeu dugout, Leverkusen trio Wirtz, Frimpong and Boniface have been identified as Real Madrid transfer targets, according to SPORT.

Real Madrid want Leverkusen trio

Wirtz has been heavily linked with a move away from Leverkusen for some time, although Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Chelsea have previously been credited with the largest interest in his signature.

However, Real Madrid have entered the fray and are also keen on his Leverkusen team-mates Frimpong and Boniface.

Frimpong, a Netherlands international, was linked with a move to Manchester United last year, but the Red Devils opted against pushing ahead with their pursuit.

As a result, that has left Real Madrid with an opportunity to pounce, although he isn’t a natural fit to replace Daniel Carvajal at right-back, given his attacking prowess.

As for Boniface, he has exploded this season following his summer move from Union Saint-Gilloise and already has 11 goals and six assists in 16 appearances in all competitions.

He would naturally fill the void left by Karim Benzema’s departure to Al-Ittihad, but would require Los Blancos to reshuffle their current system, which could impact Bellingham’s goal-scoring streak.
