Jadon Sancho’s hopes of leaving Manchester United in the January transfer window have been boosted as RB Leipzig are interested in the England winger.

Sancho has been exiled from the Man Utd first team by manager Erik ten Hag since August following a public falling out with the boss.

The relationship between the pair appears to have hit an impasse, with Ten Hag demanding the 23-year-old apologise for his behaviour, something the player has been firmly against.

As such, all parties are looking for a solution to the situation, with the likeliest of these being that Sancho departs in January on a loan basis.

Borussia Dortmund and Juventus appear to have dropped out of the running due to the high wage of the player, while the player has so far shunned any interest from the Saudi Pro League.

RB Leipzig are now exploring the possibility of bringing Sancho back to the Bundesliga after he scored 38 goals and created 51 more in the competition for BVB.

Jadon Sancho's salary remains a sticking point

SportBild reports that Sancho’s salary, which is reportedly in the region of €20 million per year, is a sticking point in any deal.

It is unclear whether RB Leipzig are aiming for a permanent deal or a loan.

Sancho’s wage again a problem

Sancho’s transfer fee is unlikely to be out of Leipzig’s reach given his Estimated Transfer Value has tumbled from a peak of €109 million down to €33m.

The Bundesliga side paid more than that in the summer to sign Lois Openda from Lens.

The Man Utd winger’s salary, though, is far more than anything that Leipzig have ever had on their books.

For a permanent deal to be brokered, then, it will take some concessions on the side of all parties. Sancho is likely to have to take a wage cut, Man Utd may need to fund some of his salary and Leipzig may need to rework their pay structure.

As for so much of the Sancho saga, the only answer is a complicated one.
