Bayern Munich identify Trippier alternative as Newcastle refuse to sell
Bayern Munich have turned their attention to Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey, according to Sky Germany.
Bayern had wanted to sign Kieran Trippier but Newcastle were not willing to sell one of their key players during the season.
Despite the Magpies' Financial Fair Play concerns, £13 million was not enough to convince them to let the Englishman leave.
Now, Thomas Tuchel's side are eyeing up Boey, who is keen on a move to the Bundesliga.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the 23-year-old has agreed personal terms with Bayern and that it is now between the two clubs to agree a transfer fee.
Boey is valued at €12.9 million by FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm, making him the 14th most valuable player in the Turkish Super Lig.
Bayern legend criticises recruitment
Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus thinks that the club have lost their way when it comes to their recent transfer business.
Speaking on Sky90 on Sunday evening, the former German international questioned whether the signing of Dier and potential signing of Trippier would improve the Bavarians' squad.

"Of course, they have to add strength in depth, but I doubt that they will really strengthen their squad because Dier has not necessarily been a player who has set the world alight at Tottenham over the last six months."
"I remember, Uli Hoeneß once famously said after [the flop signing of] Jean-Pierre Papin: 'We will no longer sign players who sit on the bench or in the stands at their clubs.' The latest transfer tells a different story."
Regarding Trippier, the 62-year-old said: "To me, this is not Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich should strengthen themselves or should put their trust in young players... Bayern Munich have good youth players."
