Sancho leaves Man Utd: Bellingham, Vini Jr and Aubameyang react to Dortmund loan
Jadon Sancho completed his loan transfer from Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund on Thursday.
The deal had been expected to be pushed through last week but due to minor details being thrashed out between the clubs, it took around a week longer than hoped to complete the formalities.
The delay means that Sancho is unlikely to be able to make his second debut for the Bundesliga side against Darmstadt on Saturday as they return to action following the winter break. Initially, Dortmund had aimed for him to be available for their Marbella training camp, which they were on this week.
It is the January transfer window’s most high-profile move to date in 2024, with Sancho having been frozen out of Man Utd’s plans by manager Erik ten Hag and now released to show what he can do for the first time since August.
Naturally, this means that the deal has drawn a good deal of interest from some leading players around the world.
How football reacted to Sancho deal
Among the players to react to the deal have been Real Madrid pair Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, both of whom seemed to sympathise with the plight of Sancho in recent months as they posted emojis of hands making a heart on Instagram in reaction to the news.
Similarly, Sancho appears to have sympathisers at Dortmund’s rivals Bayern Munich, with Alphonso Davies offering him a prayer emoji.
Dortmund teammate Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, meanwhile, added: “Let’s go,” while Marco Reus posted a string of fire emojis.
Former BVB star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang added: “Bruvv show the world.”
Newcastle’s Callum Wilson added: “Love to see it bro!” and Tammy Abraham of Roma chimed in: “Let’s go brother.”
Support also came from England colleague Dele Alli, who is a player who knows all too well what it’s like to be on the sidelines, having spent several frustrating seasons searching for his form.
The Everton midfielder posted on his Instagram stories a message that simply read: “My brother.”
