Bayern HIJACK Tottenham deal for €30m star
Tottenham Hotspur are at risk of missing out on top target Radu Dragusin as Bayern Munich have now sent formal bid to Genoa to hijack the deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are desperate for defensive reinforcements during the January transfer window amid an injury crisis that has forced the new boss to use Ben Davies and Emerson Royal at centre-back.
Eric Dier is seemingly on his way to Bayern too, meaning Tottenham have identified a centre-back as their primary need for the winter window.
Genoa man Dragusin has been pursued by Spurs for several weeks, with their interest in the Romanian first exclusively reported by FootballTransfers back in early December.
Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is also admired by the Tottenham hierarchy, but the English defender is extremely unlikely to leave Goodison Park in January due to his huge price tag.
As a result, Tottenham have pressed ahead in their bid to sign Dragusin and transfer expert Romano has repeatedly stated that Postecoglou’s side are determined to land the 21-year-old.
However, following reports that Spurs were nearing an official agreement for Dragusin, Romano has now reported that Bayern are attempting to hijack the deal.
"Radu Dragusin saga has one more twist - Bayern have now sent formal bid to Genoa to hijack the deal," he posted on X.
"Proposal slightly higher than Tottenham one, NO players included. Understand Spurs remain confident as previously agreed on personal terms. It’s up to Dragusin."
This news comes after Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb reported that Bayern lodged an offer for Dragusin on 8 January.
Bayern Munich to sign Tottenham target Radu Dragusin?
According to TuttoMercatoWeb's report, Bayern have submitted a bid of €24m plus €6m in potential add-ons for the Romania international, while the Italian publication stated that Thomas Tuchel’s side are now “very close” to reaching an agreement for Dragusin.
Atalanta have reportedly seen a bid of €18m plus €2m in add-ons rejected, while fellow Serie A clubs AC Milan and Napoli are also interested.
Dragusin has made 19 Serie A appearances for Genoa so far this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
