The Spain international has emerged as the Blaugrana’s first-choice target following news that Nico Williams will remain at Athletic Club until at least 2025.

Williams had originally been Barca’s primary option following his immense 2023-24 campaign and his stunning form at Euro 2024.

However, reports from Spain suggest that he will stay at Athletic, despite interest from Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Hansi Flick’s side have swiftly moved onto alternative targets and have now agreed personal terms with Olmo, according to Romano.

The 26-year-old has reportedly accepted a contract offer until 2030, and Barca must now agree a fee with RB Leipzig.

Romano has revealed that Barcelona’s latest bid is a guaranteed fee of €55 million, plus €4m in “easy add-ons” and €3m in “difficult add-ons.”

Bayern Munich and Manchester United have also expressed interest in Olmo this summer, FootballTransfers understands, although both clubs look set to miss out on the Spaniard.

Dani Olmo to Barcelona?

Olmo contributed nine goals and assists in 21 Bundesliga appearances last season, while he played a key role in Spain’s run to European Championship glory in late July.

The RB Leipzig star could become Barcelona’s second summer signing, following the arrival of Pau Victor for €2.7m from Girona.

Chadi Riad, Marc Guiu and Estanis Pedrola have all been sold by the Blaugrana, while Sergino Dest, Marcos Alonso and Sergi Roberto have departed on free transfers.

Olmo spent seven years in Barcelona’s La Masia academy before leaving the club to join Dinamo Zagreb in 2014. After six years in Croatia, the Spaniard joined Leipzig for a reported €29m.

He has made 148 appearances in all competitions for the German top flight side, scoring 29 goals and providing 34 assists.
