Alphonso Davies has given his clearest indication yet over speculation linking him to Real Madrid by admitting he will still always care for Bayern Munich ‘whether I stay or leave’.

The Canadian is out of contract with Bayern at the end of the season and has so far resisted any attempts to extend his deal, prompting significant interest from Real.

The Spanish giants tried to sign Davies during the summer, however they were only willing to pay a maximum of €25 million, prompting Bayern to gamble on keeping Davies at the club in the hopes he would be convinced to sign a new deal.

However, while Davies affirmed his loyalty to Bayern in the short-term, the left-back was non-committal when asked about his future, instead choosing to stress over his love for the club.

"My full focus is on this team. I'm playing here at Bayern Munich now and that's what I'm concentrating on,” Davies told BILD. “I want to win every game. That's why I'm not worrying about that at the moment. Regardless of whether I stay or leave the club, I will always carry this club in my heart."

When asked whether a contract extension with Bayern Munich is still possible Davies said: “That's a good question, you'll have to speak to my agent. My focus right now is on winning every game. I'm not worrying about the other issue at the moment."

Real Madrid pulling ‘Mbappe’ trick on Davies

Davies’ exit from Bayern appears a foregone conclusion at this stage, despite Bayern still holding out for a change-of-heart from the 23-year-old.

Real appear to be the best placed to sign Davies after their long-term interest, with the Spanish side pulling a similar method that they used to sign Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer this summer.

Mbappe had been told to avoid extending his deal with Paris Saint-Germain so that Real could sign him for free the following – a promise that the forward agreed to.

With Davies able to freely negotiate with teams from January, Real will likely make a formal offer to the Bayern star then, although any deal will not be announced until the season’s end.
