Bayern beat Man City to Florian Wirtz 'agreement'

Bayern Munich have reportedly reached an agreement with Florian Wirtz as they look to sign the Bayer Leverkusen superstar this summer.
Wirtz, 21, has been heavily linked with multiple top European clubs over the past year and Bayern have now emerged as the frontrunners to acquire his signature amid reported competition from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Vincent Kompany’s side are eager to bolster their attacking options during the 2025 summer transfer window, with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry both heavily linked with departures, and they have identified Wirtz as their priority transfer target following his immense form at Leverkusen.
The Germany international played a key role as Xabi Alonso’s side won the Bundesliga title as Invincibles last season, while he has registered 15 goals and 13 assists in 42 appearances so far this campaign.
FootballTransfers understands that Man City are hoping to sign Wirtz as their long-term replacement for the departing Kevin De Bruyne, but they have now been handed a crushing blow in their pursuit of the 21-year-old.

According to Foot Mercato, Bayern Munich have reached a “contractual agreement” with Wirtz and are now considering to be leading the race for his signature.
The Bavarian giants are yet to finalise a deal with Leverkusen, however, so Pep Guardiola’s side will still have the chance to poach Wirtz away from the Allianz Arena outfit.

Florian Wirtz could stay at Bayer Leverkusen
Although Wirtz has been tipped to leave Leverkusen this summer, amid significant interest from both Bayern and Man City, he could opt to remain at the club and extend his current contract.
The German star’s existing deal at the BayArena is due to expire in 2027, but reports suggest that he could end up signing fresh terms this summer if he is unable to finalise a move away from the club.
