Ferran Torres deal could collapse due to Barca financial problems

Ferran Torres’ transfer from Manchester City to Barcelona risks falling through because the Blaugrana can’t afford the deal, according to a number of reports in the Spanish media.
Barcelona and Man City have agreed a transfer fee of €55 million plus €10m in add-ons for the winger, who himself has committed to a five-year contract at Camp Nou.

His transfer to Barcelona was supposed to be officially announced on Monday but no such announcement was forthcoming.
The reason for this is because the transfer has been blocked legally by the Spanish League.

La Liga’s squad registration window reopens on January 3 and Barcelona must ensure that the annual salary of their squad accounts for no more than 70 per cent of their income in order to comply with the regulations.
Pedri and Ansu Fati have recently signed new contracts on improved terms, while Ousmane Dembele is expected to soon extend his contract that expires at the end of the season.
These three deals will already increase Barcelona’s salary mass, which stood at 95% of their income when they were unable to renew Lionel Messi’s contract this past summer.
As a result, Messi moved to PSG on a Bosman Transfer and Barcelona were forced to only sign free transfers in the summer with Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and the recently retired Sergio Aguero arriving for no fee.
Barcelona must raise cash for Ferran Torres
It has been well-documented that Barcelona are over €1.3 billion in debt and there were already big question marks as to how the club can possibly afford to sign Torres.
Barca hope to raise cash and lower their wage bill in order to afford Torres by selling fringe players such as Philippe Coutinho and Samuel Umtiti.
It is understood that Barcelona are in negotiations to try and agree a deal to allow them to sign Ferran Torres.
