How Florentino Perez is planning new Galactico era at Real Madrid
Real Madrid are at the front of the queue for the signature of Kylian Mbappe, and president Florentino Perez hopes the player's arrival will be the start of a new Galactico era for the club.
Los Blancos are also in the process of upgrading their famous Santiago Bernabeu stadium, with the completion of the new state-of-the-art structure set for the beginning of 2023.
And Perez aims to have the world's top footballing stars playing for Madrid to mark the opening of the club's new home.
Mbappe close to signing for Madrid
The Mbappe transfer saga has rumbled on with Madrid having two transfer bids rejected by PSG last summer despite the player being in the last year of his contract.
But come January, The Spanish giants will be free to negotiate terms with the World Cup winner, and it is almost certain he will become a Madrid player in the summer.
Mbappe has made no secret of his love for Madrid as he has previously spoken of his dream to play for the club in order to emulate his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Haaland and Mbappe to form the ultimate front two?
Another player on planet football that comes close to the excitement around Mbappe, in terms of being a potential future best player in the world, is Borussia Dortmund's Norwegian striker Erling Haaland.
And Mundo Deportivo reports that Perez has now targeted Haaland to partner Mbappe in attack at Madrid and lead a new dawn of the Galacticos at the new-look stadium.
The hope of getting the two young superstars in the same white jersey of Madrid is described as Perez's 'Jewels in the Crown.'
Dortmund are reluctant to sell their prized asset, but it is widely thought he will move on sooner rather than later in the hope of competing for league titles and the Champions League.
Dortmund exited the Champions League at the group stage this season and now must settle for Europa League football.
Will Haaland join Madrid?
Manchester City have long been the favourites to land Haaland.
But, Real Madrid are one of the most iconic clubs in the world and have have historically been able to attract the biggest and best players to the Spanish capital.
Haaland may see the chance of teaming up with Mbappe as too big an opportunity to turn down and opt for Madrid as his next home.
The one major challenge when it comes to any deal for Haaland is the financial side of things.
But Madrid are hopeful of getting big earners like Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard off the wage bill and build a dream team of new Galacticos to replace the old guard.
Haaland has a release clause of €75 million that can be triggered in 2022, though Dortmund are hopeful of keeping him for another season.
