PSG set for transfer war with Madrid over Mbappe and Vinicius Jr
Real Madrid’s interest in Kylian Mbappe may just have sparked a transfer war with Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe is widely considered to be bound for the Bernabeu in the summer, when he deal at Parc des Princes is up.
His desire to Real Madrid has been an open secret for months and the Spanish club have even admitted launching a €200 million bid for him that was sensationally ignored by PSG in the summer.
PSG, who will face Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League, have historically not reacted well to being challenged in such a manner. Barcelona, for example, have incurred the wrath of the Qatari-owned club in recent years, with the €222m purchase of Neymar in 2017 the opening salvo in a shot that has lasted years.
There is now a suggestion in El Nacional that PSG may be willing to have a similar campaign with Real Madrid.
It is reported that the Ligue 1 giants have made contact with Vinicius Junior over a possible move, with the 21-year-old having emerged as Real Madrid’s brightest rising star in recent months.
Vini Jr made a slow start to life at Real Madrid following a move from Flamengo in 2018. As such, he is still on a relatively paltry contract and has yet to be upgraded following a period of sensational form in which he has developed into a key performer for the club.
While it is reported that he intends to stay at Real Madrid, his agent’s interest has reportedly been piqued.
Furthermore, the presence of fellow Brazil internationals Neymar and Marquinhos at PSG is a factor that weighs in the French side’s favour.
This is dangerous news for Real Madrid, who have seen PSG wage a successful campaign against Barcelona in recent years.
However, there is also a strong possibility that this supposed interest has emanated from the Vinicius Junior’s agent, who is doubtless eager for a new contract to be signed at Real Madrid as soon as possible.
