Barcelona have completed the signing of 17-year-old attacking midfielder Emre Demir from Turkish side Kayserispor.

The Blaugrana announced the €2 million purchase of Demir via an announcement on their official website which read:

"The FC Barcelona and Kayserispor have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Emre Demir. The cost of the operation is 2 million euros more variable and will sign until June 30, 2027.

"The termination clause will be 400 million euros. The player will remain in the Turkish team until the end of this season and will join Barça B from next year."

Demir is, of course, not to be confused with another youngster in Yusuf Demir, who joined the club this summer.

Demir plays as an attacking midfielder who can play in the centre or on the right, moving inside on to his left foot.

After initially featuring at Kuvayi Milliyespor, Demir moved to Kayserispor in the summer of 2019.

He remarkably made his debut in the Turkish Super Lig at the age of just 15.

The young attacker soon became the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Turkish top flight.

Like a certain Lionel Messi, Demir is known for his long centre of gravity and his dribbling abilities, and the fact that he is left-footed and plays in the same position as the Argentine at that age will likely, unfortunately for the young man, lead to comparisons.

Demir was reportedly discovered via a YouTube video by former Ajax and Rangers star Shota Arveladze, who at the time was manager of Kayserispor.

Though obviously, his prime focus is on attacking, Demir is also known for his work defensively as he looks to contribute in all areas of the pitch.
