What is Atletico Madrid’s Champions League squad?
Having reached the finals of the competition twice in the last 10 years, Atletico Madrid go into this season’s Champions League full of confidence.
As if that proven track record with Diego Simeone wasn’t enough to spur on the Spanish side, a recently acquired La Liga title will also boost them ahead of six games against three very tricky opponents.
Atleti will have to be on their mettle from the outset of the competition this time around, with Group B consisting of a rejuvenated Milan, an always tricky Porto and Liverpool.
The Spanish side boast the strongest side in Spain, however, with Antoine Griezmann having reinforced their squad after arriving in a Deadline Day move from Barcelona.
Of course, they also have the likes of Luis Suarez already on their books and another couple of high-profile summer arrivals in the form of Matheus Cunha, who will make his Champions League debut this season, and Rodrigo De Paul.
With a formidable attacking line up along with a defence that is known to be mean spirited and formidable to break down, Atleti will post as great a challenge as they ever have done as they seek to finally win their first Champions League title.
