PSG boss furious at Real Madrid’s constant Mbappe remarks
Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo is outraged by Real Madrid's "lack of respect" for the French club in regards to Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe, 22, has been a long-term target of Real Madrid, and with his contract at PSG expiring next summer, the time for him to move to the Santiago Bernabeu is reportedly around the corner.
In 2021, PSG are said to have received an offer of more than €100million in an attempt to convince PSG to sell. They held their ground, and rejected that bid, but look set to lose him for free next year.
However, Leonardo isn't happy with how Real Madrid have treated PSG, despite Florentino Perez's desire to ensure peace is kept.
Perez told El Debate he hopes "that on January 1, everything can be resolved," and that PSG have all "his respect".
But, these aren't comments that Leonardo agrees with. Real Madrid have been open of their interest in Mbappe, but Leonardo believes they've taken it a step too far. He has said: "This new outing is just in the continuity of a lack of respect towards PSG and towards Kylian.
"In the same week a Real Madrid player [Karim Benzema], then Real Madrid coach [Carlo Ancelotti], and now Real Madrid president talk about Kylian as if he is already one of them.
"Florentino Perez had already spoken about Kylian to Madrid supporters during the week. I repeat: it is a lack of respect that cannot be tolerated.
"It has been going on for two years. I just remember that the transfer window is over, that a season is underway. There are matches and Real Madrid cannot continue to behave in this way. May it stop!
"Kylian is a Paris Saint-Germain player and the club fully understand that this relationship will last."
Reports of Mbappe's desire to move to Madrid have been circulating for several years, and with the player unwilling to sign a new contract, it does appear that this is his final season at PSG.
Leonardo, who oversees the transfer activity at PSG, has until January to convince Mbappe to stay, as that's when he's allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside France.
Why Mbappe will move to Real Madrid next summer
First of all, it's his dream. Mbappe is reportedly desperate to join Los Blancos, and like many players, it's the one club he wants to play for above all.
So, if the opportunity arises, he will say yes.
Real Madrid are also desperate to sign Mbappe. La Liga has lost its stars recently, but Mbappe would rectify that.
They've also been wanting to sign the Frenchman ever since his Monaco days. He is the one player they want to lead them into the future.
It's arguably a perfect fit, and would see Mbappe join forces with international teammate Karim Benzema.
