Karim Adeyemi is one of the hottest talents in European football right now and is being tracked by clubs such as Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.

The RB Salzburg striker has netted 15 times this season for the Austrian Champions and is already up and running with the German national team with one goal in three appearances.

Elite sides are beginning to sit up and take notice of the 19-year-old, who has been tipped for a big-money move sooner or later.

Barcelona track Adeyemi

Barcelona are one of those clubs quietly confident that Adeyemi will consider them when the time comes to make that big decision on his future.

Despite being steeped in financial difficulty and after a torrid start on the pitch, the Blaugrana have been working away to try and strike a deal with the player.

He first came to Barca's attention two years ago when Patrick Kluivert, who was head of the Barcelona youth academy at the time, received very good reports about the then 17-year-old.

Adeyemi was previously at Bayern before moving to Salzburg for first team football.

New head coach Xavi's need for a frontman

New head coach Xavi has identified the need for a new dynamic frontman to take the club forward in his revolution and rebuild with the club he played 767 times for.

Summer signing Sergio Aguero has been hampered by injuries since he arrived at the club and has only been seen five times in the famous Barcelona colours. There is also worries that his career may be impacted by a heart issue.

There is a lack of alternative options with only Memphis Depay hitting any kind of form compared to Martin Braithwaite and Luuk de Jong.

Can Barca get Adeyemi?

In reality, Barcelona can no longer compete with the English Premier League clubs, PSG or even Germany's Bayern and Dortmund in terms of financial might

It was rumoured the new regime at the Camp Nou would allocate around €20 million to be spent on squad upgrades in January but a chunk of that has now been used in the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

If the Adeyemi transfer comes to a bidding war or salary competition, Barcelona have little to no hope of winning that battle.

However, their confidence comes from three reasons.

They have tracked and kept in contact with Adeyemi and his people for at least two years now and feel they have built a relationship with the German youngster.

Salzburg doesn't want to sell in January as they are having a real crack at the Champions League this year, currently sitting top of Group G ahead of Lille, Wolfsburg and Sevilla.

And finally, the Xavi factor. Barcelona feel the name and prestige of their new manager can be enough to convince the player that he can achieve great things with the club under their legendary former midfield maestro.
