Dortmund CEO confirms Real Madrid’s interest in Haaland
Hans-Joachim Watzke, the CEO of Borussia Dortmund, has confirmed that Real Madrid are one of the clubs interested in signing Erling Haaland next summer. While there are several clubs across Europe plotting to sign the 21-year-old Norwegian, Watzke only mentioned one club by name and it was Real Madrid.
The CEO said in an interview with Bild: “No matter where you go, everybody talks to you about Erling Haaland. All I know for sure is that Real Madrid are very interested in him. I could name another 25 teams, but I know that for certain.”
Raiola’s four landing spots for Haaland
Earlier in December, Mino Raiola explained in an interview with Sport1 that Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Bayern Munich were the four possible destinations for the striker.
The agent later looked to retract those comments by saying his client could go to any one of 15 top clubs, but the initial statement about Real Madrid being one of the four main landing spots was certainly interesting.

The possibility of Haaland staying at Dortmund
Watzke also spoke in his interview with Bild about the possibility of Haaland staying at Borussia Dortmund beyond this summer.
He explained: “He might leave, but he might stay. Personally, I think it’d be good for him to stay in the Bundesliga a little longer. Raiola knows what he’s doing with all this. I recently had a good conversation with Raiola and we always have friendly discussions. We’ll speak more in the coming weeks.”
It could be a busy summer for Real Madrid
Looking at this from a Real Madrid point of view, it could be a very busy summer for the Spanish club. They are also hoping to sign Kylian Mbappé on a free transfer once his PSG contract runs down, but they could make a move for Haaland at the same time.
Fitting Mbappé, Haaland, Benzema and Vinícius together could be a tricky task for Carlo Ancelotti, but Real Madrid would have a dream front line for the future if they can pull this off.
