Aubameyang tells Dembele to stay at Barcelona
New Barcelona signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that he's told team-mate Ousmane Dembele to "stay at Barca" amid heavy rumours of a summer exit.
Dembele's current contract at the Camp Nou expires in the summer, and following the events of the January transfer window, it seems as though he's destined to leave the club.
However, Aubameyang, who joined Barcelona from Arsenal in January, is desperate for the winger to stay at the club.
The pair had a fruitful spell at Borussia Dortmund together, with Aubameyang scoring 31 league goals and Dembele netting six and assisting 12 during the 2016/17 Bundesliga campaign.
Aubameyang ended that season as the top-scorer in the German top flight, with Dembele's creativity playing a large role in that achievement.
So, it's no surprise that the Gabon captain wants Dembele to stay at Barcelona in order to rekindle that impressive connection on the pitch.
What has Aubameyang said?
The forward, who left Arsenal following a dispute with manager Mikel Arteta, told Mundo Deportivo: "I told Dembélé: bro, you should stay at Barça. I don’t know if he’ll change his mind but… I can only say that anything can happen."
Aubameyang joined Barca on a free transfer in January, and has hit the ground running in his new surroundings. He scored a hat-trick in his first start for the club, netting three goals in a 4-1 win over Valencia at the weekend.
Dembele, on the other hand, is yet to score for Barcelona this season, although he has contributed three league assists, including one for Frenkie de Jong in the aforementioned win against Valencia, which was just his fifth La Liga start of the entire campaign.
But, he does appear set on moving elsewhere in the summer, with several clubs across Europe linked with a move.
