Five clubs who could sign Memphis Depay if he leaves Barcelona in summer
After hitting the ground running at the start of the 2021/22 season, Memphis Depay’s form fizzled out and he has struggled to fit in to Xavi’s system since the Catalan took over as coach. Injuries and increased competition haven’t helped Memphis either and now he is considering his future.
There are various options for the Dutchman if he does leave, especially since Barcelona might not ask for much of a transfer fee after acquiring him for free just last summer. Italy looks like the most likely option for the forward, although there are others too and we discuss them all here.
Memphis to Juventus?
There were already rumours linked Memphis to Juventus in January, when Barça wanted Alvaro Morata. Even though nothing transpired then, the rumours are continuing, with Sport naming the Turin club as one of the potential landing spots for the Dutchman should he depart in the summer.

Memphis to AC Milan?
AC Milan have been admirers of Memphis for some time and the Rossoneri would be keen to sign the Netherlands international in the summer, especially since attack is an area where they need fresher legs, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic aged 40 and Olivier Giroud aged 35.
Memphis to Inter?
When Memphis moved to the Camp Nou in the summer of 2021, he was reportedly offered double the salary by Inter. Although his priority isn’t money, Inter remain a lucrative option for the player. He would prefer to succeed at Barcelona, but Inter will be a candidate if he decides that isn’t possible.
Inter Milan offered Memphis Depay double the salary he currently earns at Barcelona. He rejected the proposal in favor of playing for his dream club.

Memphis to Atletico Madrid?
The last two times that Barcelona sold a quality forward to Atletico Madrid, they lost out on the LaLiga Santander title to the Rojiblancos. It happened with David Villa in 2013/14 and with Luis Suarez in 2020/21, but El Nacional report that Barça could be about to take a similar risk with Memphis. Atleti would be keen to sign him at a knockdown price and Memphis might view the chance to work with Diego Simeone favourably, having seen how he doesn’t fit into Xavi’s plans.
Memphis Depay to Lyon?
Although Memphis left Lyon last summer after refusing to renew his contract, one of his summer options is actually to return to the Groupama Stadium. President Jean-Michel Aulas isn’t holding any kind of grudge, according to reports in France, and would be willing to take Memphis back, but only if Lucas Paqueta leaves the French side.
