‘I want Salah to join Mbappe at Real Madrid’
Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon says that he hopes the Blancos signs Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian’s future is very much in doubt as his contract at Liverpool expires in 2023.
While the Reds have managed to sign a succession of key players down to new deals, Salah has thus far eluded them, with reports he is chasing a sizeable wage increase.
The two main clubs linked with signing Salah if he leaves are Barcelona and Real Madrid.
What did Calderon say about Salah?
"I hope to see Salah in Real Madrid as a distinguished and influential player who helped Liverpool win many championships," Calderon, who was president of Real Madrid from 2006 to 2009, told Egyptian television.
"And since he won the Champions League with Liverpool, I hope he joins Real Madrid.”
Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017 and has since gone on to score a brilliant 150 goals in 233 games, playing a key role in the 2019 Champions League and 2020 Premier League title victories.
Calderon added that he hopes to see both Salah and Kylian Mbappe join Real Madrid this summer.
"I hope to see this wonderful duo," Calderon stated.
Mbappe’s contract at PSG expires in June and he has repeatedly rejected offers of an extension.
The World Cup winner was involved in the biggest transfer saga of last summer as he attempted to push through a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid.
In the end the transfer didn’t go through but Mbappe is widely expected to still move to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season on a Bosman.
Last week Mbappe scored the winner for PSG against Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie in Paris.
Mbappe slid the ball through the legs of Thibaut Courtois in injury-time to give PSG a narrow advantage heading into the return leg in Spain.
