Mbappe's FOUR conditions for a new PSG deal
Paris Saint-Germain’s hopes of re-signing Kylian Mbappe are based on matching four requirements from the World Cup winning attacker.
The 23-year-old attacker is out of contract at the end of the season and has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid as a free agent.
However, PSG are not giving up on the case and are ready to offer Mbappe a record contract offer that will allow him to stay at the club.
The forward, though, has demands that extend beyond just his salary, according to L’Equipe.
What Mbappe wants from PSG
Firstly, of course, he wants a wage that reflects his status as one of the greatest players in the world – and the most important in the PSG squad. This was underlined again on Tuesday, when his stoppage-time winner against Real Madrid gave the Parisians a 1-0 first-leg lead in the pair’s Champions League last-16 clash.
A huge salary is no problem for PSG, who are backed by the Qatari state.
Secondly, Mbappe wants to be considered a fundamental part of the PSG project. He wants to be held up as the star figure, even ahead of Lionel Messi and Neymar.
This runs somewhat in contradiction to Mbappe’s third requirement, which is to be given a possible exit in 2023. Although Sport reports that Mbappe wants a ‘clause’ in his deal that would allow him to leave, this would have to come in the form of a gentleman’s agreement because such clauses in a contract in France are illegal.
Finally, Mbappe wants to see a greater sense of professionalism installed throughout the club. He is unhappy that there is not more discipline with regards to punctuality and days off granted to players. It is reported that Mbappe believes that PSG lack a grip of discipline on their players.
Should PSG prove capable of meeting these requirements, Mbappe may yet spurn Real Madrid.
